The Board of the Russian Camp Association MOO-SDO, has awarded the 2021 “Camp Without Borders” award to John (Jorgi) Jorgenson. “Camp Without Borders” is the organization’s highest award.

The “Camp Without Borders” Award was founded in 2019. Once a year, Russian camp professionals recognize an outstanding non-Russian individual for the contribution to strengthening international ties between Russia and other countries. Previous recipients are Fahrettin Gozet (2019) and Gwynn Powell (2020)

John (Jorgi) Jorgenson accepted the award, stating:

“I am surprised and grateful for the information that the decision of the Board of the СОДЕЙСТВИЕ ДЕТСКОМУ ОТДЫХУ (Russian Camp Association MOO-SDO) has presented the 2021 “Camp Without Borders” Award to me. I am surprised by this decision for I know the high quality of the previous recipients. I am grateful to be included with these fine leaders. I am humbled that you would think of me in the same category.

It has been pure joy for me to be part of the awakening of the world to the great camping that goes on in Russia and to help Russian camps tell their story. The ICF is much better as a result of the leadership from Russia and it continues to depend upon Russia for leadership in the future.”

The award will be presented formally at future in-person conference events in Russia and Canada.
