Dear Colleagues around the world,
I hope this message finds you safe and in good health.
I can imagine that most of our northern colleagues have just closed or are trying to close the camps and to complete the post-camp official paper work etc. We all deserved a good rest. Then we will be ready to continue our jobs with more passion and enthusiasm.
What we have been experiencing since March 2020 has been really tough. It also seems clear that easy times are not immediately ahead. Our industry is dealing with inflation, lack of human resources and other post-covid economic difficulties as well as the regional and global political issues that are affecting our lives. All these challenges affirm that our planet needs more camps and leaders grown at camps. We must adapt ourselves to changing conditions without giving up our values.
ICF has played and will keep playing an important role as a bridge between countries and camp professionals.
I can’t thank the ICF Board Members and several key volunteers enough for their dedication during the last 2 years since the start of my term as ICF president. It was my privilege to be a part of such a great team that are determined to keep bringing together the world of outdoor experience – even when faced with obstacles that keep us apart..
Of course, we still have lots of ideas to bring to life. For that reason, the ICF Board will meet in Tarragona, Spain between 3-8 October. I am so very much excited to see my dearest friends in person and hug them closely. Our communication team will keep you posted about our meetings and time in Spain.
As you all know, our next International Camping Congress will be held in Spain on 4-8 October, 2023. It is only 12 months ahead. Our Congress’ Organising Committee is dedicated to run the best ICC congress in the history of ICF. I personally believe 2023 will be a highlight and milestone for camp congresses.
